Floating Rates are set to be worth a little bit more or less than some well known rate, usually the prime rate, so a floating rate would be quoted as being prime plus 2 for example, so if prime was 2 the floating rate would be 4, if prime moved up to 2.5, the floating rate would go up to 4.5, and like that.
